Day 126 fighting cancer with my grandpa — starting immunotherapy

Yesterday after a nap, we were talking about what causes cancer. He still thinks smoking isn’t the absolute reason. Then he said maybe, if he gets better, he could have a cigarette once in a while. I told him no—maybe a little alcohol, but not smoking. He laughed and said he doesn’t even drink. I asked if he wants one now. He said no, he’s actually scared it could cause pneumonia with his lungs like this.
So I asked when. He said, “maybe in 10 or 20 years.” 😭 That hit me hard. If he really gets another 10–20 years, I wouldn’t stop him from anything. I’d just want him to be happy.
Tomorrow is day 3 of chemo, one more day of etoposide, and hopefully he can go home soon.
Just really hoping he’ll be okay.
